KAMEN RIDER WIZARD (2012) - VILLAINS

Phantoms (ファントム Fantomu?) are the antagonists that appear in the 2012-2013 Kamen Rider Series Kamen Rider Wizard. Born from within the bodies of despairing Gates, humans with magical potential, a Phantom proceeds to destroy the Gate's Underworld (精神世界<アンダーワールド> Seishin Sekai <Andāwārudo>?, Kanji meaning "Inner World") before bursting from the host. Unlike the humanoid Phantoms that emerge from a Gate, the inner Phantoms are more monstrous in form. Each Phantom has a form based on a monster from various mythologies.

The Phantoms created on the day of the solar eclipse follow the orders of a mysterious figure called the Wiseman who gives them the task to find more Gates and place them in despair so that more of their kind can be created. However, Kamen Rider Wizard stands in their way of sacrificing more humans. But when too late to stop a Gate from falling into despair, Wizard uses an Engage Wizard Ring to enter the wearer's Underworld and destroy the manifested inner Phantom, in turn turning the Gate into a normal human.

The Phantoms also use familiars called Ghouls, which are created from magic stones and serve as the Phantoms' foot soldiers.

Misa (Medusa)

(メデューサ Medyūsa) is a Phantom born from the body of a young girl named Misa (ミサ), tearing her host apart and assuming her form. Partnered to Phoenix, Medusa is one of the two Phantoms tasked with the Wiseman's wish for more Phantoms to be created.


Personality
Medusa is cruel and calculating in personality, not above harming a fellow Phantom if they are not doing what is demanded of them by the Wiseman. She also has no tolerance for anyone who gets in the way of her kind's goal.

Abilities
In her human state, Medusa can cause explosions with a mere glare from her eyes. She also the ability to look through the Underworld of an ideal Gate who can incubate more of her kind. In her true form, Medusa's hair can entangle opponents or siphon magical energy out of their bodies.



Yugo (Phoenix)
(フェニックス Fenikkusu?) is a Phantom that was born from the body of a youth named Yugo (ユウゴ Yūgo?), whom he killed and assumed his form. More overbearing than Medusa, Phoenix pressures their subordinates into following their orders. He can regenerate from any injury he suffers from an opponent.

Amino (Minotauros)
(ミノタウロス Minotaurosu?) is a Phantom born from within Toriizaka Station detective Amino (網野?) when he gave in to despair, ripping his host to pieces from the inside and assuming his identity. Armed with the Bull Axe (ブルアックス Buru Akkusu?)and capable of producing small fire balls, Phoenix and Medusasend him to create a new Phantom using Rinko Daimon, destroying her locket to ensure her inner Phantom's birth. However, Minotauros is destroyed by Kamen Rider Wizard's Strike Wizard Rider Kick before the Kamen Rider enters Rinko's Underworld to undo the damage.

Hellhound (ヘルハウンド Heruhaundo?) is a Phantom whose power over flame includes the ability to shoot fire from its mouth, sent by Phoenix and Medusa to create a new Phantom using Shunpei Nara.

It also had a motorcycle called Black Dog (ブラックドッグ Burakku Doggu) that it uses to evade the attacks of Kamen Rider Wizard, but it was destroyed by Wizard in their second fight.

Hellhound is revealed to be TV Yūhi morning news announcer Kazuo Tajima(田島 一夫 Tajima Kazuo?)who sought to turn Shunpei Nara into a Phantom by destroying the young man's dreams of ever being a mage, Hellhound uses his shadow ability to trick Shunpei into thinking he gained magic powers before humiliating him on national television and forcing him to destroy his childhood book to begin the creation of a new Phantom.

Kamen Rider Wizard arrives to battle Hellhound on live television, but the Phantom outsmarts him by sneaking in and out of shadows before destroying the TV camera. After using the Light Magic Ring to flush out Hellhound, he changes to Water Style to counter the Phantom's flame attacks before finishing him off with the Water Slash Strike.

After defeating Hellhound, Kamen Rider Wizard enters Shunpei's personal Underworld, defeating the Phantom Cyclops and return Shunpei back to normal.


Caitsìth

Caitsìth (ケット・シー Ketto Shī?) is a Phantom who was born from a black man who gave into his despair. Though a strong fighter whose his claws are strong enough to fend off attacks from swords, and he can transform his arms into golden swords, Caitsìth is very lazy in personality, as seen when he fled from his first battle with Wizard because it was too troublesome to continue fighting.

His Gate target is the pianist Eisaku Takagi (高木 栄作 Takagi Eisaku?), who has been practicing piano since childhood, attended a music college, but has fallen into a performance slump.

In his second battle against Wizard, he was almost killed if Haruto hadn't run out of magical energy. Once Haruto regained enough, he challenge Caitsìth once again. Caitsìth then summon Ghouls to attack Wizard, only for them to be easily defeated when Wizard use his Copy Ring to defeat the Ghouls by gunning them down with a hail of bullets as each one of them used the WizarSwordGun.

Though Caitsìth trying to flee, Wizard rush to Hurricane Style and easily short the distances. Caitsìth once again summon Ghouls once again, and defeated easily. Caitsìth met his end when Wizard used the Hurricane Slash Strike to defeat him, without despairing Eisaku.


Gnome

Gnome (ノーム Nōmu?) is a Phantom born from within a sommelier (ソムリエ somurie) when he gave in to despair. His Gate target is scam artist Manami Yamasaki (川崎 愛美Yamasaki Manami?) whose dream is still unclear.

At first, Wizard Hurricane Style was able to overpower the Gnome Phantom, but before Wizard can attack again, the Gnome Phantom travels underground to escape. He then kidnapped Manami, but thanks to Wizard's Drill Ring, he was able to burrow underground to reach the Gnome Phantom. Gnome called more Ghouls to attack Wizard, but they are easily defeated. The Gnome Phantom then creates cave in to escape again.

He then destroyed Manami family photos, but it doesn't make her despair. Gnome Phantom then fight Wizard, thanks Wizard Flame Style Defend protect him from Gnome attack, but Gnome escape again. Knowing Manami hope, he then burn Manami house that used to live with her family. But, thanks to Wizard Water Style which succeeded extinguished the fire. Though Wizard make her doesn't lose hope and also doesn't despair.

The Gnome Phantom then fight Wizard Water Style, though trying escape, Wizard change to Land Style and use Big Ring to bring out Gnome Phantom from underground. He then fight Wizard once again and trying to escape after Wizard use Smell Ring to broke the Phantom smell taste. Smell Ring also use to know Gnome Phantom position on underground. Wizard then use Kick Strike Ring and Drill Ring combination to perform Drill Strike Wizard, ending the Gnome Phantom terror in the underground.

 Gargoyle

Gargoyle (ガーゴイル Gāgoiru?) is a Phantom born from within a unnamed worker (作業員, sagyōin) when he gave in to despair.


His Gate target is Naoki Katayama, who is trying to find the truth behind his father's death. This particular Phantom has the ability of petrification, and this ability is not only useful for defensive purposes to withstand attacks, but can also be use to attack enemies with in the form of body slams.

In his first encounter with Wizard, it was thanks to Gargoyle's petrification ability that all of Wizard attacks don't have any effect on him. Wizard then changes to Land Style and use brute strength instead of WizarSwordGun attacks to damage Gargoyle, who then escapes. Gargoyle then found Naoki at the place where his father died, but before he could attack, Kizaki saves Naoki and the two escape. However, Gargoyle stopped them, but Haruto arrives and changes to Flame Dragon. The Dragon Style easily overpowers Gargoyle, and Wizard uses an enlarged WizarSwordGun to successfully attack the Phantom. However, Gargoyle escapes as Wizard uses the Dragon Breath attack on the squad of Ghouls.

Kizaki remembers of his promise and brought Naoki to a harbor, but Gargoyle send Ghouls in to intercept them. Kizaki then fights the Ghouls, but as a result he was mercilessly beaten. At the same time, Haruto battles Phoenix, who wants a rematch with the magician. Kizaki then meets Haruto after he is defeated by Phoenix. After learning the truth, the two rush to Naoki. However, before they arrive, Gargoyle said to Naoki that his father died because of him, sending Naoki into despair.

Haruto changes into Wizard and fights Gargoyle, but because time was running out for Naoki, Wizard changes to Flame Dragon. He then easily overpowered the Phantom, and uses the Dragon Breath when Gargoyle could not escape, killing the Phantom.

In the Hyper Battle DVD Showtime with the Dance Ring, Gargoyle reappears in the manager's Underworld interfering Haruto and Nito's after-performance but is later destroyed by Kamen Rider Wizard and Kamen Rider Beast.
