Akira as training in the snow draped Touhoku region when the Kuro Jujigun attacked. He was a marksmanship instructor at the Tohoku branch of the Japan Block of EAGLE. At 25 he was the oldest member of the Goranger team, in which he was second in command. He fancied Americancowboy outfits. Skilled in archer, which he was unsurpassed in and mecha piloting, he had aspirations of being a racecar driver. A cool and capable decision maker, he saved the team from many Black Cross traps. As the Ao Ranger, he piloted most of the Goranger sky vehicles such as Varibloom and Varidreen. The Varibloom he had special affection for and reffered to it as 'my Varibloom.' He is armed with the super bow Blue Cherry and Ultra Blue Cherry, which can fire specially designed arrows (Blue Arrows and Blue Arrow Rockets). He also drove the super motorcycle Blue Machine and later the Blue Star.
