KAMEN RIDER FOURZE (2011-2012) - CHARACTER

Written By Regina Kim on Thursday, October 11, 2012 | 5:05 AM

Gentaro Kisaragi

(如月 弦太郎, Kisaragi Gentarō) is a second year student in Amanogawa High School, who has a delinquent Yankee-like appearance wearing a short jacket over a T-shirt and baggy pants, with his hair in a pompadour, rather than the clean cut uniform worn by other AGHS students; but is actually really friendly and wants to make friends with people in the school. He is willing to go the extra mile and do bizarre things to get to know someone he wants to befriend better. He puts friendship above anything else and values every friend that he has, to the point of crying hard whenever he hears a sad story of someone he considers a friend. He also has a special handshake he does with his friends and is commonly used when Gentaro makes a new friend. The reason he does so is because he wants to see that person he befriends smile, which is the best feeling one could have. He is generally very earnest and very thick-skinned, as well as not being very perceptive and at times, can actually be very dense. He is also prone to say things other people have a hard time comprehending, due to his unique and bizarre view in things. These quirky qualities are seen by others around him to be both annoying shortcomings and unusual strengths.

Gentaro lives with his grandfather Goro Kisaragi after his parents died in a traffic accident when Gentaro was in third grade. His parents had a job that (as Gentaro stated) went above both his and his grandfather's head, but they always were proud when their son made friends. His father also told him that he needed to keep his friends close because they would eventually help him out in the long run.

Gentaro is shown to become increasingly adept in using the Kamen Rider Fourze system as the series progresses. He is shown to only be able to use conventional fighting moves, and has to rely on Kengo's advice on which Astroswitch to use in battle situations early in the series. As he gets increasingly used to fighting the Zodiarts, he learns how to devise strategies on the fly (though they do not always work and Kengo still needs to be around most of the time) and is seen to be using and changing Astroswitches more often. He is shown to be very resourceful with the use of Switches as he learns how to utilize each one in unusual ways, such as using Limit Breaks of Launcher, Gatling and Fire Switches together to form a long range Limit Break finisher, and Limit Breaking the Rocket and Drill Switches twice when he cannot finish Scorpio off with just his usual Rocket Drill Space Kick. When he has difficulty with properly using a Switch, he will take the time to understand it as he did with the Hopping Switch, ending up capable of using it as a weapon instead of just a tool.

After reuniting with childhood friend Yuki Jojima, he tries to befriend loner Kengo Utahoshi, who goes out of his way to avoid him. When he slights Miu Kazashiro, Shun Daimonji begins to deal out "punishment" until a strange creature Yuki identifies as a Zodiarts appears. Gentaro begins to fight off the monster until Kengo arrives in the Powerdizer exo-suit, managing to keep the creature at bay, but leaving him physically drained. Kengo and Yuki head to an abandoned part of campus where they enter a locker that transports them to a lunar base known as the Rabbit Hutch. He prepares to use the devices left behind on the base, until Gentaro appears, having followed them into the locker. Gentaro takes the device from Kengo, who is still too tired to fight back. Gentaro faces off against the Zodiarts, but Yuki shows up to advise him on how to use the device he stole from Kengo. Gentaro activates the strange belt, transforming him into Kamen Rider Fourze for the first time. With Kengo's instruction, Gentaro is able to defeat the Zodiarts, and he is begrudgingly allowed to keep the Fourze Driver in order to battle the Zodiarts menace. To cement his new friendship, Gentaro forms a Kamen Rider Club, with Yuki and Kengo as its first members while taking up the title Kamen Rider.

During his second and third school year, Gentaro as Fourze would fight against the Zodiarts and their more powerful counterparts, the Horoscopes, gaining various Astro Switches along the way. He also meets another Kamen Rider who seeks the Aries Zodiarts, Kamen Rider Meteor. While their overall goals were different, Gentaro would see Meteor as a strong and powerful ally. When an exchange student from Subaruboshi High School, Ryusei Sakutaasks to join the Kamen Rider Club, Gentaro at first refuses as he saw through Ryusei's act in the fact he wasn't being himself in front of the club. He later accepts Ryusei into the club when he reveals a small part of his personality.

Eventually, the Kamen Rider Club learns that Ryusei's old school was infiltrated by the Horoscopes and heads there to deal with the situation. As Gentaro transforms to confront the Aries Zodiarts, he learns of his abilities and eventually manage to overpower him. However, just as Kamen Rider Fourze is about to finish the Zodiarts off, Kamen Rider Meteor intervenes and executes a Limit Break, followed by a one-inch punch on Kamen Rider Fourze, sending Gentaro into critical condition. Seeing Ryusei's blatant insubordination, Tachibana shuts down the Meteor system, effectively canceling Kamen Rider Meteor's transformation and revealing Ryusei's identity to the Kamen Rider Club. Gentaro dies shortly thereafter in front of all of them, after commending Ryusei for finally being true to Gentaro and to himself. However, with Tachibana's advice, Kengo managed to resurrect Gentaro with the Cosmic Switch using the bonds of friendship forged along thus far, gaining access to Cosmic States. With this new-found power, the Aries Zodiarts proves to be an easy opponent and is defeated shortly thereafter.

Gentaro once again displays the lengths he is willing to go to help a friend when the Capricorn Zodiarts, Tojiro Goto, shows up and convinces JK to reform their rock band named "Gene God", using the Capricorn Zodiarts powers to improve their musical talents as well as easily enthralling their audience. JK chooses to live his dream and quits the Kamen Rider Club, which results in Gentaro losing the use of Kamen Rider Fourze Cosmic States. Refusing to give up on a friend, Gentaro goes as far as to travel to JK's hometown ask JK's now-fisherman father to teach him the song JK heard growing up, just so that he can snap JK out and reminds JK what it really means to chase one's dreams. Regaining JK's friendship shortly thereafter as well as the Cosmic States, Gentaro proceeds to make short work of the Capricorn Zodiarts.

Written By Regina Kim on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 | 8:58 PM

Chameleon

Switcher: Tamae Sakuma; male Foundation X member
Episodes: 3-4, Movie War Mega Max, 25
Defeated by: Kamen Rider Fourze Base States' Rider Rocket Drill Kick

 Tamae Sakuma
(佐久間 珠恵, Sakuma Tamae) is a third-year student who is in the cheerleading squad, in addition to being one of Miu Kazashiro's "sidekicks". However, Tamae has become tired of Miu's two-year winning streak in the annual Queen Festival, a contest that votes for the "queen" of the student body. To stop Miu from winning her third year so she would be able to win the contest herself, Tamae is given the Zodiarts Switch that allows her to become the Chameleon Zodiarts (カメレオン・ゾディアーツ, Kamereon Zodiātsu), a Zodiarts that can appear invisible as well as attack with its powerful tongue-like tendrils.

To orchestrate her plan to remove Miu from the contest, Tamae begins to attack students that could be potential threats to her success. Then, when Miu takes the stage for the talent competition, Tamae fakes being attacked herself so she would be able to transform and cause a commotion, allowing for a video of Miu lambasting the student body to play. When her identity is revealed, Tamae fakes remorse to catch Miu off guard and injures her severely to remove her from the contest. However, Miu musters up enough strength to return to school despite her yet-to-recover injuries and wins back the hearts of the student body with her powerful speech.

Tamae, enraged that her plan has failed, ignores Kengo's warning against using her Zodiarts Switch when it enters its Last One state. She attacks Miu as the Chameleon Zodiarts once more, but Kamen Rider Fourze is able to save the school's reigning "queen" and eventually destroys the Zodiarts with his Rider Rocket Drill Kick, gaining access to the Zodiarts Switch to shut it off. After Miu wins the contest for the third year in a row, she forgives Tamae for her actions, and renews their friendship under the promise that Tamae would beat Miu through honest means.

A second Chameleon Zodiarts appeared later on, this time an unnamed adult male affiliated with Foundation X, sent to defeat the gathered Heisei Riders.

A third Chameleon Zodiarts appeared and was believed to be Tamae who got a new Zodiarts Switch. However, what remained after a fight with Fourze in Elek States and Meteor was a clump of hair, and it was later revealed to be a fake created by the Coma Zodiarts.

Unicorn
Switcher: Fumihiro Nitta; female Foundation X member
Episodes: 5-6, Movie War Mega Max
Defeated by: Kamen Rider Fourze Elek States' Rider Ten Billion Volt Break

Fumihiro Nitta
(新田 文博, Nitta Fumihiro) is a first-year student member of the fencing team who has a grudge against JK for being used by him to be his human shield from bullies. The Scorpion Zodiarts gives him a Zodiarts Switch that allows him to transform into the Unicorn Zodiarts (ユニコーン・ゾディアーツ, Yunikōn Zodiātsu). He is able to convert his horse-faced mask into the Longsword Monarch (長剣 モナーク, Chōken Monāku) rapier, and becomes a force to reckon with in a fight thanks to Nitta's already impressive fencing skills, though his non-weaponry fighting skills are frankly deplorable. After capturing JK, Nitta amusingly allows him to contact someone for help, with full knowledge that no one in his circle would save him, after scaring off much of them. However, Gentaro proves Nitta wrong as he manages to become Kamen Rider Fourze and assume Elek States for the first time and destroys the Zodiarts with the Rider Ten Billion Volt Break. Though JK intends to beat the daylights out of Nitta for the latter's boorish actions, Gentaro tells him not to.

A second Unicorn Zodiarts appeared later on, this time an unnamed adult female affiliated with Foundation X, sent to defeat the gathered Heisei Riders.

Hound

Switcher: Teruhiko Sakate; male Foundation X member
Episodes: 7-8, Movie War Mega Max
Defeated by: Kamen Rider Fourze Elek States' Rider Lightning Drill Kick
Teruhiko Satake
(佐竹 輝彦, Satake Teruhiko) is the rebellious son of AGHS's Takashi Satake. Though he is a student who scores good grades, he is unhappy with his life and adopts delinquent hobbies and mannerisms. At some point, he receives a Zodiarts Switch from the Scorpion Zodiarts in order to transform into the Hound Zodiarts(ハウンド・ゾディアーツ, Haundo Zodiātsu) and uses his newly gained abilities to be himself and go on a rampage, or "hunting" as he calls it, attacking anyone nearby. He fights with his powerful claws and the chain that hangs around his neck. The Hound Zodiarts can also fire a barrage of needle-like energy bullets from the dog's face on his chest. Eventually in his Last One state, the Hound Zodiarts gains a thickened hide and none of the usual attacks from the Kamen Rider work on him. While the Scorpion Zodiarts supports the Hound Zodiarts in fighting Kamen Rider Fourze in Elek States, Shun Daimonji arrived in a big flair, he piloting the Powerdizer to hold the Scorpion off so the Kamen Rider can fight the Hound Zodiarts one-on-one. The Hound sent Fourze flying, though Shun snagged Fourze and sent him right back at the Hound, allowing Fourze to destroy him with the Rider Lightning Drill Kick.

A second Hound Zodiarts appeared later on, this time an unnamed adult male affiliated with Foundation X, sent to defeat the gathered Heisei Riders.
Perseus

Switcher: Soushi Matoyama
Episodes: 15-16
Defeated by: Kamen Rider Fourze Fire States' Rider Exploding Shoot; Kamen Rider Fourze Base States' Rider Rocket Drill Kick; Kamen Rider Meteor Storm attack

Soshi Motoyama
(元山 惣帥, Matoyama Sōshi) is the president of the AGHS art club who wishes to create a perfect piece of art. He is approached by the Libra Zodiarts and is given a Zodiarts Switch that allows him to transform into the serpent-like Perseus Zodiarts (ペルセウス・ゾディアーツ, Peruseusu Zodiātsu), arming him with the gigantic Oracle Sword (オラクルソード, Orakuru Sōdo) . He also has the Head of Medusa (ヘッドノメドゥーサHeddo no Medūsa) on his left hand, enabling him to turn anything he grabs with it to stone. Matoyama uses his power to attack and petrify anyone and anything that interferes in his work's creation. Thought his Last One form is destroyed by Kamen Rider Fourze Fire States, the Zodiarts Switch recreates the Perseus Zodiarts's body, as well as gaining the ability to fire petrification beams from his Medusa hand, making him far more dangerous than he was before before.

However, as a result of Gentaro's attempts to reach him, the Perseus Zodiarts realizes he made a grave error in judgement over his hyper-critical actions after seeing how his earlier painting has inspired the kindergarteners to make their own works. The Perseus Zodiarts then accepts Gentaro's friendship with the intent of refusing to his body before the Libra Zodiarts converts him into a berserker for no longer having the potential to evolve. However, with the help of the newly-arriving Kamen Rider Meteor holding the Libra Zodiarts at bay, Kamen Rider Fourze uses the Pen Switch to disable the brainwashed Perseus Zodiarts before destroying him with the Rider Rocket Drill Kick. Back in his body, Matoyama is later seen creating a new painting of Mount Fuji to give to the kindergarteners as a means to start over.

Another Perseus Zodiarts had appeared, fighting Meteor in Meteor Storm form, and was destroyed with a few hits with the Meteor Storm Shaft. However, it was not real, as Ryusei was just having a nightmare.

 Lynx

Switcher: Masao Nonomura
Episodes: 17-18
Finished by: Kamen Rider Meteor's Starlight Shower; Kamen Rider Fourze Elek States' Rider Lightning Drill Kick; Kamen Rider Meteor Storm attack
Masao Nonomura
(野々村 公夫, Nonomura Masao) is an AGHS student who is Kengo's self-proclaimed rival who wants to have the one with the top grades, attacking anyone that had better scores than him. The Zodiarts Switch given to him by the Libra Zodiarts enables him to transform into the Lynx Zodiarts (リンクス・ゾディアーツ, Rinkusu Zodiātsu) who is agile and has sharp claws on both of his hands. However, he had a personal tick that involved rubbing his right finger and thumb together, and thus was exposed in a public restaurant, also going into Last One. He forced Fourze to detransform when he took JK hostage, and right when Gentaro did, Masao send him flying, knocking the Fourze Driver away from him. It was then that Meteor appeared. Masao tried the hostage card again, but Meteor's punch struck true into the Zodiarts' face. He met his match with Meteor, who's fighting style was the same as the Lynx's. He then landed the Starlight Shower finisher on the Lynx Zodiarts, temporarily destroying the Zodiarts, who then reforms with the "star of evolution" glowing on his body, though Meteor lets him off. However, Fourze is not so merciful and uses the Rider Rocket Drill Kick. Meteor needed the Lynx Zodiarts to see if he was capable of evolving into the Aries Zodiarts, so he deflected the Rider Kick with his own, allowing the Zodiarts to escape for now.

The second time that the Lynx fought Fourze, he came with Dustards made from "Master" Libra and terrorized the school with them. Right before Fourze could hit Lynx with a Limit Break, the Lynx ran off, prompting Fourze to use the new Wheel Switch to give chase, where he assumed Elek States and destroyed the Zodiarts after a brief fight.

Another Lynx Zodiarts had appeared, finighting Meteor in Meteor Storm form, and was destroyed with a few hits with the Meteor Storm Shaft. However, it was not real, as Ryusei was just having a nightmare.

 Dragon

Switcher: Jin Nomoto
Episodes: 19-20, 25
Finished by: Kamen Rider Fourze Magnet States' Rider Super Electromagnetic Bomber; Kamen Rider Fourze Magnet States attack

Jin Nomoto
(野本 仁, Nomoto Jin) is is the intimidating captain of the AGHS track and field team who refuses his team to take outside help. He can become the Dragon Zodiarts (ドラゴン・ゾディアーツ, Doragon Zodiātsu), a Zodiarts sent by Libra to kill the Kamen Riders. His scales are made of a tough metallic material that easily absorbs thermal and electrical energy and has the ability to redirect it, making both Fourze's Fire States and Elek States useless. It is also tough enough to withstand melee attacks, even the ones thrown by Meteor. It can also create spheres made of its scales to attack by throwing them at the Riders. Later, he has gained the ability to expel fire from his arms.

However, there are a few weaknesses that this mighty Zodiarts possess. He has to be aware of any elemental attack from either Elek or Fire first, otherwise, it would actually harm him. Also, he can't absorb the full power of a Limit Break. Also, it seems he can't absorb the electrified attacks from Meteor with the Elek Switch, though he did deflect his Rider Kick before Fourze assumed Magnet States.

He revealed himself as the Dragon Zodiarts when he ordered Egawa to stay away from Kengo, only to focus his murderous intent to Gentaro, Yuki, and Shun, who were in the bleachers for a different reason.

A second Dragons Zodiarts appeared and was believed to be Jin who got a new Zodiarts Switch. However, what remained after a fight with Fourze in Magnet States, all that was left after Fourze slammed the N&S MagCannon into the Zodiarts was a lump of black hair, meaning it was a fake/summon.

Pegasus
Switcher: Natsuji Kijima
Episodes: 21 - 22
Finished by: Kamen Rider Fourze Magnet States' Rider Super Electromagnetic Bomber (before evolution)

Natsuji Kijima
(鬼島 夏児, Kijima Natsuji), is a second year student in Amanogawa High School and the president of the Rakugo Research Society. He found a Zodiarts Switch that was kicked out of the Libra Zodiarts's hand while being jumped by Kamen Rider Fourze and became the Pegasus Zodiarts (ペガサス・ゾディアーツ, Pegasasu Zodiātsu). Using it, the Pegasus Zodiarts attacks martial artists and others who partake in physical sports, fueled by petty vengence after Ms. Haruka Utsugi confiscated his fan. He also began shadowing her and began to copy her style of kickboxing, as well as her signature kick with a somewhat winded wind up. While fighting the Zodiarts, Gentaro recognizes its most impressive kick style to be that of Ms. Utsugi's. After gathering clues (some of which came from Kijima), the Kamen Rider Club was lead to believe that Ms. Haruka is the Zodiarts, and Kijima used that to his advantage by saying that he was [Gentaro's] teacher, and floors the stunned Rider, though Meteor hits Kijima hard with a one-inch punch, sending the Zodiarts quite the distance.

He was later exposed by Ryusei when he remembers Kijima reeling in pain after JK (in good spirits) elbowed the rakugo man in the ribs (in the same spot where Meteor hit him with the one-inch punch) and when Natsuji found his watch was running slow (in the previous fight with Fourze, he was hit by a electromagnetic tornado from Magnet States). Once confronted, the normally jolly student went stone cold in seconds, his Switch assuming Last One and attacked. After Gentaro started to shadow Ms. Utsugi's fighting after she arrived to help Gentaro, Kijima flees, but was chased down by the Rider. After a plentora of Switches used to fight against the Zodiarts, Fourze assumed Magnet States and hit Kijima with the Rider Super Electromagnetic Bomber. However, as the group celebrated victory, it soon turned sour when Kijima's Zodiarts body revived itself with a Star of Rebirth shining. Virgo walked in, carrying Kijima's human body and tossed it at the Pegasus Zodiarts, triggering the evolution into the Cancer Zodiarts.

 Cygnus

Switcher:
Norio Eguchi
Episodes: 23-24
Defeated by: Kamen Rder Meteor's Meteor Strike

Norio Eguchi
(江口 規夫 Eguchi Norio) is a cosplay otaku at AGHS who watched Kamen Rider Fourze and wanted to be a hero like him yet lacked the nerve to do so. Soon after, Eguchi receives a Zodiarts Switch from the Libra Zodiarts which causes him to develop a split personality with the dark aspects of himself occupying the Cygnus Zodiarts (キグナス・ゾディアーツ Kigunasu Zodiātsu?), which simply calls himself "Cygnus" (キッグナス Kiggunasu?). As the Cygnus Zodiarts, he is armed with sharp claws on his hands, and he uses his feathers for multiple purposes from throwing them around to make a grand entrance to using them as shurikens, and has powerful kicks that resemble ballet moves.

Portraying himself as a hero, the Cygnus Zodiarts obtains a large following of people called the Ugly Duckling Society, which is led by Misa Toriizaki, who uses a point system to judge people like the Zodiarts does. While claiming to be a hero of justice, Cygnus actually wants admiration and will attack anyone who he sees as a threat to his true plan: replacing Kamen Rider Fourze, as well as those who refuse to see him as a superior being. When Eguchi is revealed to be the Switcher, having no knowledge that Cygnus was the product of his own mind, he attempts to give his Zodiarts Switch to the Kamen Rider Club as the item assumes its Last One state. However, the Cancer Zodiarts abducts him so Misa can force Eguchi to transform before the Cygnus Zodiarts reveals his true colors. After the Cygnus Zodiarts is destroyed by Kamen Rider Meteor, Eguchi lives his dream of being a hero with good deeds.
Coma

Switcher: Yayoi Tokuda
Episodes: 25-26
Defeated by:
Kamen Rider Meteor's Starlight Shower (1st time); Kamen Rider Fourze Magnet States' Rider Super Electromagnetic Tackle w/ PowerDizer (Final time)

Yayoi Tokuda
(徳田 弥生) is a third-year student who is the president of AGHS's school newspaper. Because of her intense need to discover the truth behind events, she discovers the identities of three former Zodiarts Switchers prior to receiving a Zodiarts Switch from Cancer. As the Coma Zodiarts (コーマ・ゾディアーツ, Kōma Zodiātsu), she is able to uses her hair as tendrils to whip at people or to create clones of defeated Zodiarts and control them like puppets by pulling a strand off.

It should be noted that while her clones have the same powers as the real articles, what separates them is that they cannot be magnetized, due to the non-metallic nature of real hair.

The Coma Zodiarts had creates clones of the Chameleon, Altar, Dragon Zodiarts to run amok in the school all for a scoop, not caring if the former Switchers get their names sullied by the incriminating false evidence. She was hit by Meteor's Starlight Shower when she made the mistake of wrapping the Rider in her tendril-like hair and pulled him close. However, as she wasn't in Last One yet, Yayoi still had the Switch in hand, then reassumed Zodiarts form and fled.

The real reason why she's a Zodiarts is because she doesn't want to graduate and leave Amanogawa High School, and decided to use her Zodiarts Switch to cancel Prom Night. However, that clashed with Gentaro's present to the third-year students, which is Prom Night. After Coma assumes Last One and a fierce battle involving the Cancer Zodiarts butting in again, the PowerDizer's pilot JK getting ejected, and the eldest Club members returning to the fold, Fourze assumes Magnet States and pulls off the Rider Super Electromagnetic Tackle when Shun in the PowerDizer grabbed the two Zodiarts and drove to Gentaro. While the Cancer Zodiarts managed to get away, Yayoi wasn't so lucky and was returned to normal.

Musca

Switcher: Haru Kusao
Episodes:
29-30
Defeated by: Kamen Rider Fourze Magnet States' Rider Super Electromagnetic Bomber (willingly)

Haru Kusao

(草尾 ハル) is a meek new first-year student at Amanogawa High School who receives a Zodiarts Switch from Libra and becomes the Musca Zodiarts (ムスカ・ゾディアーツ, Musuka Zodiātsu). The reason why he wanted the Switch was to protect his (for a long time, only) friend Ran. She had long sworn to protect him, after an incident where upperclassmen at their previous school threw Haru's friendship charm with Ran's name on it into the pool and teased him, but she stood up for him and retrieved the charm, thus gaining a disdain for upperclassmen. However he had gotten a high off the switch, and still saw Ran trying to protect him (as both himself and the Musca Zodiarts), leading to an increasingly unstable mental state.

It can spit a sticky mucus-like slime from its mouth and can jump high, this form known as "Phase 1" (フェーズ1,Fēzu Wan). The Zodiarts reacts to Haru's emotions and desire to become stronger and undergoes a metamorphosis that gives him neon green armoring on his forearms and shins that increase Musca's physical power [this form being known as "Phase 2"(フェーズ2, Fēzu Tsū)], though that was proven no more then decorative to the more adept Kamen Riders. He later gained the ability to convert his body into a massive swarm of flies when fighting Fourze in Elek States, though he couldn't control himself while doing so.

Once Haru hit Last One, Musca had turned into a terror that is "Phase 3" (フェーズ3, Fēzu Surī). On top of his previous abilities, Musca gained better and spiked armor, allowing him to withstand more punishment. It also had wings, allowing Musca to fly, and the projectile slime turn into rainbow-hued slime balls that explode upon impact.

However, his power to convert his body into a swarm of flies was negated when Fourze used the power of the Net Switch onto Musca, forcing the Zodiarts to stay solid while Fourze assumed Magnet States. However, Kengo warned that if Haru's Zodiarts form was destroyed while he was mentally unstable, he would remain that way. Just then, Ran yelled to Haru an apology for trying to protect him when he didn't want protecting. Haru's heart was reopened, and he asked Gentaro to send him back to his body, and was blasted away by a Super Electromagnetic Bomber.

KAMEN RIDER FOURZE (2011-2012) - ARSENAL

Written By Regina Kim on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 | 10:53 PM

The arsenal for Fourze was initiated by Kengo's father Rokuro Utahoshiseventeen years ago (prior to the series). He was an OSTO scientist who researched the possibility of extraterrestrial life and devised the Astroswitchesseventeen years prior to the series, before the space station he worked on was destroyed, taking Kengo's father with it.

A year before the series started, Kengo Utahoshi received a letter and an Astroswitch from an anonymous person. The portal connecting to the Rabbit Hatch lunar base, which is all that remained of the destroyed OSTO complex, was opened in the locker in a abandoned club activity room when Kengo just so happened to throw the activated Switch inside. He discovered all about the Astro and Zodiarts Switches on the base and decided to follow through with his father's plans to fight the menace that is to come, expanding on the arsenal.

Tachibana has also shown a secret interest in fast-tracking the development of the Fourze arsenal, and as such has had his own rider Ryusei Sakuta, infiltrate the Kamen Rider Club. Ryusei aids the Club in some technical aspects. When he encounters technical problems beyond him, he consults Tachibana in secret (such as the case of the NS MagPhone).

 Astroswitches

Much of the Fourze arsenal relies on the power of the Astroswitches. When used with the Fourze Driver, each Switch generates a specific weapon that Fourze can use for battle.

Linkup

Many items in the Fourze arsenal are linked up to the Astroswitch Kaban. The Kaban serves as a wireless computer that allows analyses, communication and other functions.

Fourze Driver

The Fourze Driver was developed to weaponize the Astro Switches. Kengo had it ready if in case the Zodiarts began attacking. When Gentaro Kisaragidiscovered its existence, and that Kengo would probably be unable to use it because of his condition, he rushed into taking on the responsibility of transforming into Fourze, to Kengo's protests.

NS MagPhone

The NS MagPhone was designed by Kengo and created by Ryusei when it became apparent that using the Magnet Switches alone would yield disastrous results. The NS MagPhone allows for power offset, rendeing the magnetic power of the Switches manageable.

Astroswitch Modules

When Astroswitches are used with the Fourze Driver, the limb module for which the slot corresponds to generates that particular switch's weapon. Multiple Switches may be used so long as the slot is not occupied or operational.

Elek Module Billy the Rod

The Elek Module Billy the Rod comes with Elek States, accessed through the powers of the 10th Astroswitch, Elek. It's a lightningrod-like device that behaves like a sword, with a cord and plug attached to the device. By plugging this into the three sockets on Billy the Rod, it allows three methods on how to release electricity.

Fire Module Hea-Hackgun

The Fire Module Hea-Hackgun comes with Fire States, accessed through the powers of the 20th Astroswitch, Fire. It's both a fire extinguisher looking weapon that has two modes: one which puts out fires, and one that starts them. This is done by pulling apart the Module.

N and S Magnet Cannons

The N and S Magnet Cannons are built into Magnet States, accessed through the powers of the 30th and 31st Astroswitches, N Magnet and S Magnet. They serve as a pair of cannons that rest on the shoulders. On the arms are the magentic bar-like Magnet Modules, which emits a powerful magnetic field

Cosmic Module Barizun Sword

The Cosmic Module Barizun Sword comes with Cosmic States, accessed through the powers of the 40th Astroswitch, Cosmic. It is a large melee weapon that can deal both blunt-force damage and cutting damage due to the weapon being capable of switching modes, as well as built-in boosters to blast Fourze and a Zodiarts into the atmosphere without the PowerDizer.

Machine Massigler

The Machine Massigler is Fourze's Rider Machine.

Powerdizer

The Powerdizer is a robotic powerhouse used by Shun Daimonji to aid Fourze in battle. It requires strength and resistance for it to be properly used, something the previous pilots lacked.

Fourze's Astroswitches

Rocket Switch (ロケットスイッチ, Roketto Suitchi, Circle): The Rocket Switch arms Fourze with the Rocket Module (ロケットモジュール, Rokketto Mojūru) on his right arm, allowing him to fly. By using the exhaust ports on the Rocket Module, Fourze can add 40 additional tons to his punches. He had the inital problem of unable to control the Rocket Module's ports.

Launcher Switch (ランチャースイッチ, Ranchā Suitchi, Cross): The Launcher Switch arms Fourze with the Launcher Module (ランチャーモジュール, Ranchā Mojūru) on his right leg, allowing him to attack enemies from a far distance. The module can launch 5 missiles to attack an enemy, though with improper handling, the flight pattern of the missiles can be very chaotic. During the Aries Zodiarts incident, this Astroswitch was rendered useless after Aries cuts it off from the Fourze System.

Drill Switch (ドリルスイッチ, Doriru Suitchi, Triangle): The Drill Switch arms Fourze with the Drill Module (ドリルモジュール, Doriru Mojūru) on his left leg, allowing him to drill through the ground and pierce enemies with a powerful kick, though it limits his movements. It spins around 200 RPM.

Magic Hand Switch (マジックハンドスイッチ, Majikku Hando Suicchi, Circle): The Magic Hand Switch arms Fourze with the Magic Hand Module (マジックハンドモジュール, Majikku Hando Mojūru) on his right arm allowing him to use a large manipulator arm which gives him an extra 10 meters of reach and pick up heavy objects using the End Effect Pench (エンドエフェクトペンチ, Endo Efekuto Penchi).

Camera Switch (カメラスイッチ, Kamera Suitchi, Square): The Camera Switch arms Fourze with the Camera Module (カメラモジュール, Kamera Mojūru) on his left arm, allowing him to view far distances and see things that normally isn't noticed. It can also receive data from the environment nearby. The Camera Switch is generally used to operate the Burgermeal, though it is implied there are other Burgermeals being look out without the use of the Camera Switch. Also, the Module is more powerful than a Burgermeal.

Parachute Switch (パラシュートスイッチ, Parashūto Suitchi, Square): The Parachute Switch arms Fourze with the Parachute Module (パラシュートモジュール, Parashūto Mojūru) on his left arm, allowing him to deploy three parachutes to land safely to the ground if in freefall from a signifigant height. When the parachutes are not in use, thay are stored in the dark green box on Kamen Rider Fourze's arm.

Chainsaw Switch (チェーンソースイッチ, Chēnsō Suitchi, Cross): The Chainsaw switch arms Fourze with the Chainsaw Module (チェーンソーモジュール,Chēnsō Mojūru) on his right leg, allowing him to use the saw on his foot that has a powerful engine that can rotate the blade up to 15,000 rounds per minute, cutting into even the toughest of Zodiarts armor. Because the blade is on the foot, maneuverability is an issue to make sure Fourze doesn't cut himself.

Hopping Switch (ホッピングスイッチ, Hoppingu Suitchi, Triangle): The Hopping Switch arms Fourze with the pogo stick-like Hopping Module (ホッピングモジュール, Hoppingu Mojūru) on his left leg, allowing him to to significantly increase his maximum jumping height from 20 meters to 40 meters. However, this Module is unpredictable and great control is needed to use this Module properly.

Elek Switch (エレキスイッチ, Ereki Suitchi, Circle): The Elek Switch arms Fourze with the Elek Module Billy the Rod (エレキモジュール ビリーザロッド,Ereki Mojūru Birīza Roddo). Initially, it just changed his right forearm's color to gold and armed him with just Billy the Rod and suffered backlash shock from the power, but after allowing the Elek Switch's power to course into Fourze's body, it allows Fourze to assume Elek States.

Scissors Switch (シザーススイッチ, Shizāsu Suitchi, Square): The Scissors Switch arms Fourze with the arts-and-crafts-looking Scissors Module (シザースモジュール, Shizāsu Mojūru) on his left arm, which allows him to cut though even metal. If the second opening of the show is any indication, it can also fire a pulse of energy for a long-range attack. The Scissors Switch is generally used to operate the Potechokin.

Beat Switch (ビートスイッチ, Bīto Suitchi, Cross): The Beat Switch arms Fourze with the Beat Module (ビートモジュール, Bīto Mojūru) on his right leg, resembling a small subwoofer that can produce sonic waves with a range of 20Hz-5kHz and a tweeter with a range of 5kHz-24kHz. A rather hilarious aspect of the Beat Module is that it can behave much like a normal subwoofer.

Chain Array Switch (チェーンアレイスイッチ, Chēn Arei Suitchi, Circle): The Chain Array Switch arms Fourze with the Chain Array Module (チェーンアレイモジュール, Chēn Arei Mojūru) on his right arm, which is a glorified spiked flail. The steel ball on the end of the chain is called the Blowing Star (ブローイングスター,Burōingu Sutā), weighing about 120 kg. The Rough Spikers (ラフスパイカー, Rafu Supaikā) on the Blowing Star are made from a newly discovered metal known as Astorium (アストリウム<, Asutoriumu). It seems old-fashioned and low-tech, but it gets the job done in handling Zodiarts. The Chain Array's links can also stretch. Like any chained weapon, inertia is a factor to make sure Fourze doesn't end up smacking the Module into himself, and there is also the chance of the Module being reflected back onto Fourze.

Smoke Switch (スモークスイッチ, Sumōku Suitchi, Cross): The Smoke Switch arms Fourze with the Smoke Module (スモークモジュール, Sumōku Mojūru), allowing him to emit smoke within a 5 mile radius for 5 minutes which can obstruct an opponent's vision in close combat, not to mention disorientate said opponent from the choking smoke.

Spike Switch (スパイクスイッチ, Supaiku Suitchi, Triangle): The Spike Switch arms Fourze with the leg-brace of the Spike Module (スパイクモジュール,Supaiku Mojūru) on his left leg, giving Kamen Rider Fourze an advantage in close-range kicks. The Spike Module consists of Rough Spikers, again made out of Astorium, only they extend a good two feet seconds before impact for maximum damage/penetration. It is also quite heavy, as Fourze had to use both arms to lift his leg out of a foot-deep hole speculated to be caused by the Spike Module, as it happened off-screen.

Winch Switch (ウインチスイッチ, Uinchi Suitchi, Square): The Winch Switch arms Fourze with the drum-style Winch Module (ウインチモジュール, Uinchi Mojūru) on his left arm, which has a spinning turbine. The Winch Module'sBoost Hooker (ブーストフッカー, Būsuto Fukkā) shoots out at high speed and can pull objects with up to 5 tons.

Flash Switch (フラッシュスイッチ, Furasshu Suitchi, Circle): The Flash Switch arms Fourze with the Flash Module (フラッシュモジュール, Furasshu Mojūru) on his right arm, allowing Kamen Rider Fourze to blind enemies (or anybody else for that matter, including himself) with the light of the sun at full power. Fourze can also control the intensity of the Flash Module's light, so he can use it like a flashlight. The Flash Switch is generally used for the Flashake Foodroid.

Shield Switch (シールドスイッチ, Shīrudo Suitchi, Square): The Sheild Switch arms Fourze with the Lockheed Martin X-33-looking Shield Module (シールドモジュール, Shīrudo Mojūru) on his left arm, allowing him to protect himself from any attack, though it is rather small in size. The Shield Module is also made from Astorium. Despite this, the Shield Module was rendered useless in future fights with the Cancer Zodiarts, as it's claw arm cleaved the Module in half.

Gatling Switch (ガトリングスイッチ, Gatoringu Suitchi, Triangle): The Gatling Switch arms Fourze with the Gatling Module (ガトリングモジュール, Gatoringu Mojūru) on his left leg, allowing Kamen Rider Fourze to shoot 10 rounds per second. The bullets have enough power to pierce into concrete.

Having learned from the Elek Switch, Fourze had no problem accessing Fire States. The Fire Switch's dormant ability is to absorb heat-based attacks to enhance it's own.

Stealth Switch (ステルススイッチ, Suterusu Suitchi, X): The Stealth Switch arms Fourze with the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk-looking Stealth Module (ステルスモジュール, Suterusu Mojūru) on his right leg, allowing Fourze to become invisible for 5 seconds. It works by absorbing reflected light off of the Fourze System.

Hammer Switch (ハンマースイッチ, Hanmā Suitchi, Square): The Hammer Switch arms Fourze with the squeaky hammer-looking Hammer Module (ハンマーモジュール, Hanmā Mojūru) on his left arm (though the majority of the Module covers only his hand), allowing Fourze to do incredible damage with it. He can also slam the Module onto the ground to make a shockwave travel through the ground to floor a Zodiarts. However, if the Hammer Module hits something that's too hard to hit, the shockwave instead travels backwards, harming the user. During the Aries Zodiarts incident, this Astroswitch was rendered useless after Aries cuts it off from the Fourze System.

When swung, Fourze can make three-dimensional objects on any surface from the "ink", which can serve as either improvised shields or to reveal invisible enemies after the ink hits it's mark. What the material the solidifed "ink" is made of is none other than pure carbon. It has a Limit Break, where Fourze covers the foe in the Pen Switch's ink to disable any special abilities a Zodiarts might have.

Wheel Switch (ホイールスイッチ, Hoīru Suitchi, Triangle): The Wheel Switch arms Kamen Rider Fourze with the Wheel Module (ホイールモジュール, Hoīru Mojūru) on his left leg, which gives him two wheels akin to a Segway to allow him to move at high speeds without straining himself or getting the Masshingler. It can also run up walls.

The N Magnet Switch, when used by itself, allows Kamen Rider Fourze to use the giant red-colored, north pole aligned, magnet bar-like N Magnet Module (Nマグネットモジュール, Enu Magunetto Mojūru) when it is not fully utilized. The N Magnet Module has a very powerful magnetic field, thus any metal object that can be magnetized will be attracted to Fourze's body. If the S Magnet Module is active, the N Magnet Module will be attracted and form unintentional cuffs. After it has been modified into the NS MagPhone with the S Magnet Switch, Fourze is able to control the Module and also changes into the powerful Magnet States.
S Magnet Switch (Sマグネットスイッチ, Esu Magunetto Suitchi, Square): The S Magnet Switch is built into the MagPhone along with the N Magnet Switch, which allows Kamen Rider Fourze to assume Magnet States. The S Magnet Switch, when used by itself, allows Kamen Rider Fourze to use the giant blue-colored, south pole aligned, magnet bar-like S Magnet Module (Sマグネットモジュール, Esu Magunetto Mojūru) when it is not fully utilized. The S Magnet Module has a very powerful magnetic field, thus any metal object that can be magnetized will be attracted to Fourze's body. If the N Magnet Module is active, the S Magnet Module will be attracted and form unintentional cuffs. After it has been modified into the NS MagPhone with the N Magnet Switch, Fourze is able to control the Module and also changes into the powerful Magnet States.
